ST. GABRIEL'S SOUP KITCHEN

 

For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat,

I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink,

I was a stranger and you invited me in,

St. Gabriel's Soup Kitchen serves a free meal every Wednesday from 10:00am to 12:00pm to anyone who walks through our doors - no questions asked. Every person who comes to us is welcomed.  Every week we help feed 170-200 residents of Rutherford County.

The soup kitchen is located in the Parish Hall at St. Gabriel's, but comes about through a collaboration with several local churches.  Along with St. Gabriel's, the First Presbyterian Church of Rutherfordton and St. Francis Episcopal Church of Rutherfordton are two of the driving forces behind this ministry.  Members of both congregations volunteer countless hours and both churches support the soup kitchen financially.  Also, members of various other denominations in the surrounding area volunteer their time and money to support this ministry.

We believe that our Soup Kitchen represents a concrete manifestation of our mission statement and demonstrates our commitment to the community.
